When I was in the 3rd grade there was an old couple that, once a month, would come to the school to pass out pamphlets of verses for the students to memorize. For each verse memorized and quoted aloud, a student received a small prize or reward. The more one recalled at a time the better the reward. My first verse was John 3:16 and I was rewarded with a fruit-shaped eraser. *

I can't find it in the English now, but it was that verse that says something like: The devil is lying in wait at the door and his desire is for you. *

wow this topic certainly brings back memories, I started sunday school when I was 7yrs old and the first thing I was taught was about the birth of Jesus and back in those days they didn't really teach us scripture, instead we were told the story of Jesus life from a Biblical sense. That was 45 years ago, and my foundation and roots in Jesus Christ were planted in 1961 *

wow i was in grade 2 back in the 70s i remember ths song which wd sung like ths we read in the Bible ,we understand dat Samson was a strongest man He killed many people 4rm the Philistians,he throw them with a jawbone of an (donkey) .The funny thng is i rememberd the song as if it was yesterday when i read Samson's story .27 yrs later . *

One of the first verses I memorized when I was little is Psalms 123. MY grandma used to repeat it after each prayer. This verse has hepled me all through my life and wiil always be part of it. No matter what I have to face in life, I know the Lord will be with me and will protect me. The Lord is my shepherd...... *
